Web Hosting Basics
Web hosting is like renting a storefront from a shopping mall operator. Except instead of renting a brick and mortar storefront, you are renting space on our computers, or a "virtual storefront." We take care of running the computers and monitoring them around the clock, leaving you to do what you do best - running your business. What we do is "host" your Web site for you, or "Web Hosting." And Zap Host does this (we think) better than anyone else.

Just like building out a store in a mall, where you have the ability to design the inside of the store, the signs, the lighting and the displays, when you rent your Web space you control how your pages look, what information is displayed, etc. Depending on how comfortable you are with web development, you can build those pages yourself, using our easy to use tools or software such as Microsoft FrontPage 2000 ©, or have someone else do it for you.

Once your web pages are built, you'll be ready to put them up on your Web site, and your "online store" will be open for business.

Three Steps to Getting Started
There are just 3 easy steps to ordering your Zap Host account:

Step 1 - Select a Web Hosting Plan - Pick the plan that's right for your needs. If you are just getting started with a web site, or are ready the jump from "free" hosting to a "mydomain.com" site, then the Zap Host account is perfect. Not sure what you need?  Send us a note - we're glad to help!

Step 2 - Choose Your Web Address (such as www.yourcompany.com). This is the name people will use to find your Web site, so try to choose a name that's easy to spell or pronounce. If you already have a name, follow the procedures on our Support pages for transferring the name to Zap Host

Step 3 - Place Your Order - Fill out the info we need to complete your order, such as your name, address, and payment information. That's all there is to it! Once you've successfully completed the order process, you'll see an order confirmation page with details about the order you've placed, and then a "Successful!" page. When you see that, we're already at work, and we'll email you as soon as your Web site is ready for "buildout" (meaning that it's ready for you to load the Web pages that you've built, or had built for you, on to your site). Generally that letter will arrive within one hour - get started the same day.

When your pages have been successfully loaded on to your Web site, your site will be "open for business."
