Once selected, click “Go!”.

After clicking “Go!”, you’ll be taken to a page where you’ll need to enter your e-mail address and confirm the domain name. See below:

The e-mail address provided above will be used to reply to Network Solutions once the domain transfer has been submitted. Use a valid e-mail address that is in working condition when submitting domain transfers. Once the e-mail address has been entered, click “Go!”.

You’ll be transported to the “Manage Your Account” page. This page contains most of your domain’s information. The original domain registrant, Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Billing Contact, Domain Name Servers, and other information can all be seen on the “Manage Your Account” page. Scroll down until you come across the “Technical Contact” (under “Contact Information”). Change the Technical Contact NIC Handle to the ZapHost Nic Handle.

ZapHost Nic Handle:

RVPOZTZBYO

** ZapHost should not be the Administrative or Billing Contact. RVPOZTZBYO is for use as a Technical Contact only.

Once you enter the Technical Contact NIC Handle, scroll farther down until you come across the “Name Server Information”. Under the “Required Information”, you’ll need to enter ZapHost’s DNS servers. See below:

Primary Server Hostname:

Primary Server Netaddress:

Secondary Server Hostname:

Secondary Server Netaddress:

Make sure that “Optional Information” is clear of any server names or addresses. Once you verify that you have the ZapHost server information entered, scroll down the page until you come across the “Submit Form” section. Click “SUBMIT THIS FORM FOR PROCESSING”. See below:

Once you’ve clicked “SUBMIT THIS FORM FOR PROCESSING”, you’ll be given a message indicating that a copy of the form has been e-mailed to the e-mail address provided at the beginning of the domain transfer request.

Below is the message you should receive after submitting the domain transfer request:

A few minutes later you should receive an e-mail from ‘hostmaster@networksolutions.com’ within a few minutes. The e-mail message will begin with:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the Domain Name Registration Agreement you recently created. In order to complete this modification, YOU MUST E-MAIL THIS FORM TO: hostmaster@networksolutions.com

After you e-mail this form, you should receive an auto-reply with a tracking number. You must use that number in the Subject of any future messages you send regarding this registration action. Once this registration action is completed you will receive a notification via e-mail.

You will need to reply to the message (make sure that your e-mail client is set to include a copy of the original e-mail when replying). You won’t need to write anything in the reply. Make sure that a copy of the original e-mail from hostmaster@networksolutions.com is included in your reply. Once complete, send the message. After sending the reply, you’ll receive an auto-reply from Network Solutions. The message will include a tracking number. This tracking number can be used to track the domain transfer progress.

Network Solutions will then send a confirmation request via e-mail (including the details of your domain transfer request) to the Administrative and Technical Contact e-mail address listed in the domain WHOIS record (see www.networksolutions.com to see the e-mail addresses listed for a domain). The Administrative or Technical Contact must reply following the specific instructions from Network Solutions. The reply process is a simple “Y” or “YES” placed at a specific spot in the reply. Once the Administrative or Technical Contact has replied, Network Solutions will usually update their database within 48 hours (thereby completing the domain transfer). An officer of the company (owner, president, executive, etc.) can also call Network Solutions directly at 800-779-1710 (or 703-742-4777). By calling, an officer of the company can confirm the domain transfer without utilizing e-mail (usually via fax). Network Solutions will give specific instructions to callers.

This ends the domain transfer process. The transfer will usually complete within 72 hours.

Top Reasons that domain transfer requests do not complete:

1.       Administrative/Technical Contacts do not reply to the confirmation e-mail from Network Solutions.

2.       Administrative/Technical Contacts do not reply to the confirmation e-mail using the proper instructions sent by Network Solutions.

3.       Administrative/Technical Contacts never get the e-mail confirmation request from Network Solutions.

4.       Network Solutions is having system troubles and the e-mail confirmation never gets sent.

Top Reasons that a domain transfer cannot be submitted via Network Solutions:

1.       The domain name wasn’t registered via Network Solutions. In this case, the domain name cannot be transferred via Network Solutions. The domain must be transferred at the domain registrar’s web site.

2.       The domain name isn’t registered yet.

3.       The domain is password protected. Remember, ZapHost will not transfer domains that are protected by a password (even if the name and password are provided).

4.       The domain is protected using PGP or another form of encryption.

5.       Network Solutions is having system troubles. Try again later.

* This tutorial covers domains that were registered at www.networksolutions.com. Customers that registered a domain name using a different registrar will need to contact their registrar for domain transfer instructions.
